(More customer reviews)We have a StaRite filter with two cartridges inside. The pleats in the cartridges get gunky and in the past we've normally just used the "jet" setting on the hose nozzle to clean them. This filter cleaning wand looked intriguing and it was inexpensive, so I ordered one. It works pretty well. It gets more gunk out than just the "jet" setting (it actually comes with a separate endpiece that will do a "jet" setting if you like - - we haven't used it much, though) and I like the fact that the bristles help get between the pleats. There are a bunch of little holes in the surface that the bristles come out of, so as you're brushing the water shoots out and cleans off what the bristles dislodged. You can tell how well the bristles work by using the brush part without running the water through it. The brush gets really gunky. Unfortunately, the head is a little too big to get to some parts of the big cartridge if you leave it in the filter housing. Of course, the head and brush would have to be teeny weeny to get to those tight spots. I'll keep using this tool happily.
